Biography

Harry Owen is a poet, performer, teacher and writer living in Grahamstown, South Africa.

He is author of four collections of poetry: Searching for Machynlleth (2000), The Music of Ourselves (2004), Five Books of Marriage (2008) and Non-Dog (2010).

Harry is an experienced reader and workshop facilitator, having performed in a wide range of venues, including schools, universities, libraries, arts centres, theatres, gardens, community centres, churches, cathedrals, even a monastery and a prison -- and he remains open to further suggestions!

In 2003 he served as the inaugural official Poet Laureate for Cheshire (UK). For several years he hosted the popular open-mic event called Poems & Pints in Congleton, Cheshire and now performs a similar function at the equally popular Poetry @ Reddits in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape (http://web.me.com/roddyfox/PoetryatReddits).

As part of the acclaimed poetry performance group Bunch of Fives he toured the English North-west and Midlands in 2007/2008.
